Pole Sheds
Custom-Made Timber Pole Sheds for your unique needs
Premium Pole Sheds – Built for Versatility and Strength
Waikato Sheds offers high-quality timber pole sheds built on engineered concrete pads, giving you the strength of a traditional pole structure with the flexibility and durability our customers expect. These sheds aren’t just for farms — they’re ideal for anyone needing open, adaptable storage or workspace options.
Whether you’re on a lifestyle block, smallholding, rural section, or simply want a structure with more vertical clearance and flexibility, our pole sheds are an excellent solution.
Built on Concrete. Supported by Timber. Designed to Last.
Unlike conventional in-ground pole sheds, our pole sheds use engineered timber poles anchored to a concrete pad, avoiding the moisture issues of embedded timber while retaining the strength and clearance of a post-and-beam system.
Benefits of our pole shed construction:
- High-grade H5 timber poles, anchored to a concrete pad
- Clearspan bays ideal for vehicles, tools, or hobby use
- Compatible with roller doors, open-fronted bays, and lean-tos
- COLORSTEEL® cladding available in a wide range of colours
- Designed to handle NZ conditions with full engineering certification
More Than Just Farm Sheds
While pole sheds are traditionally used for rural and agricultural needs, we design them for a variety of purposes — similar to our lifestyle, rural, and garage sheds.
Popular uses for pole sheds:
- Vehicle and boat storage
- Workshops or hobby sheds
- Hay and feed storage
- General lifestyle block sheds
- Home-based business or toolshed
- Shelter for horses, quads, or equipment
You get the same design flexibility and finish options as any of our sheds — with the added benefits of a pole-style structure for greater roof spans and open interiors.
Kitset or Full Build — It’s Your Choice
We supply:
- Kitsets NZ-wide, complete with timber poles, COLORSTEEL® cladding, and engineering plans
- Full build service in Waikato, Auckland, Bay of Plenty, Coromandel and Taupō
Whether you’re building a small 2-bay shed or a large multi-use facility, our pole sheds are designed to stand the test of time — and weather.
Frequently Asked Questions
What kind of timber do you use in your pole sheds?
We use high-quality, kiln-dried H5 treated timber poles for all our pole sheds. Kiln drying reduces moisture content, which helps prevent twisting, warping, and shrinkage — resulting in a straighter, more stable frame that performs better over time. All poles are anchored to a concrete pad for maximum durability and compliance.
Are your pole sheds only for rural or farm use?
Not at all. We design pole sheds for lifestyle blocks, residential storage, hobby spaces, workshops, and more. They’re versatile and suitable anywhere a traditional shed would be.
Do your pole sheds use in-ground posts?
No. We anchor our H5 timber poles to a concrete foundation to improve durability, avoid rot, and ensure long-term stability.
Can I add doors, windows, or internal walls?
Yes — pole sheds can include roller doors, PA doors, sliding doors, windows, and framed internal partitions to suit your purpose.
What’s the main benefit of a pole shed vs. a steel frame?
Pole sheds typically allow for wider bays and taller clearance with a lower overall cost. They’re ideal when you want open space or fewer internal frames.
